Adobe® InDesign® CS2 Installation and activation instructions

April 17, 2017 - Software

This document contains installation and activation instructions for both the Windows® and Macintosh platforms.

General installation notes

Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for Adobe InDesign CS2. System requirements are listed in the InDesign Read Me file on the Adobe InDesign CD and on the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/products/indesign/systemreqs.html.

If you purchased InDesign from the Adobe website, you need to locate the Adobe InDesign CS2 folder on your computer to install the software.

After you install InDesign, please refer to the ReadMe.pdf file in the Adobe InDesign CS2 folder on your hard drive. The ReadMe.pdf file contains last-minute information that you may want to print and keep with your documentation for future reference.

General activation notes

Activation is a simple process you must complete within 30 days of installing the software. Activation allows you to continue using the software, and it helps to prevent casual copying of the software onto more computers than the license agreement allows. Instructions to activate InDesign are provided in this document. For more information about activation, visit the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/activation.

Installing Adobe InDesign CS2

Complete the following procedure to install InDesign from the Adobe InDesign CS2 CD. You cannot run InDesign from the CD; you must install the program files onto your hard disk.

Upgrading If you’re upgrading from a previous version of InDesign, the installer creates a new folder for the InDesign CS2 files. Files from the previous version aren’t affected. If you’re installing the Adobe Creative Suite CS2 and you have Adobe Acrobat® 6.0 or earlier installed, Adobe recommends that you uninstall the previous version of Acrobat before installing the suite.

Additional Resources The Adobe InDesign CS2 CD includes additional resources, such as Adobe Reader® 7.0, the scripting guide, and other technical documentation. In addition, the second InDesign CS2 CD includes extras such as fonts, clip art, and sample files. For more information, browse the InDesign CDs.

To install InDesign in Windows:

1 — Log into the computer as a user with administrative rights. If you don’t have administrative rights, see the person who administers the computer.

2 — Close any Adobe applications that are open and disable any antivirus software.

3 — Do one of the following:

· Insert the InDesign product CD into your CD-ROM drive. After the Autoplay dialog box appears, click Install Adobe InDesign CS2 to continue.

· If you downloaded InDesign from the Adobe website, locate the Adobe InDesign CS2 folder, and double-click the Setup.exe file within it.

4 — Follow the on-screen instructions, and when prompted for a serial number, do one of the following:

· If you’re installing the software from a CD, type the serial number exactly as it appears on the outside of the CD case.

· If you downloaded the software from the Adobe website, type the serial number exactly as it appears on your receipt page and in the e-mail you received confirming your purchase.

Note: If you’re installing an upgrade of either InDesign or Adobe PageMaker®, type the serial number included with InDesign CS2. The installer will then search for the previous version on your computer. If it doesn’t find the previous version, it will prompt you to verify the location it’s installed or enter the serial number from the previous version.

5 — Continue to follow the on-screen instructions, and when you receive a message stating that the installation was successful, click Finish.

You may be prompted to activate your copy of InDesign. See See Activating InDesign.

To install InDesign in Mac OS®:

· If you downloaded the software from the Adobe website, open the Adobe InDesign CS2 folder, and double-click Install Adobe InDesign CS2.

3 — Follow the on-screen instructions. In the Authenticate dialog box, type the name and password for an administrator account, and then click OK. If you don’t know the name and password, see the person who administers the computer.

4 — When prompted for a serial number, do one of the following:

· If you’re installing the software from a CD, type the serial number exactly as it appears on the outside of the CD case.

· If you downloaded the software from the Adobe website, type the serial number exactly as it appears on your receipt page and in the e-mail you received confirming your purchase.

Note: If you’re upgrading from a previous version of InDesign or from Adobe PageMaker, type the upgrade serial number included with InDesign CS2. The installer will then search for the previous InDesign version on your computer. If it doesn’t find the previous version, or if you’re upgrading from PageMaker, it will prompt you to verify the location it’s installed or enter the serial number from the previous version.

5 — Continue to follow the on-screen instructions, and when you receive a message stating that the installation was successful, click Close.

You may be prompted to activate your copy of InDesign. See See Activating InDesign.
